King Con VIII peeps

Recently held the 8th annual King Con in my hometown of Girard, Ohio. Originally organized by my brother and I as a way to beat the mid-winter doldrums over a long three day weekend, (MLK day), it has grown over the last near decade to near epic proportions! Well, maybe not epic, but too big to be held at my brother's house. We ended up with 18 people at the height of festivities on Saturday, coming from as far away as Kansas and Pittsburgh and Poughkeepsie and Brooklyn New York! Much to my sister-in-law's delight, we were able to reserve a boy scout cabin at a local park. With a full blown kitchen and two flushing toilets; we were in business!

While AAR's and other pics are forthcoming, here's a look at some of the attendees.

The Yinzers. Myself, (in the yellow shirt) surrounded by some of the best guys you'll ever meet, let alne game with. Mondo, JB, and a couple of Pauls, yinz all know who you are. Thanks for making it a great event.

My two older brothers in attendance; firmly ensconced in the intelligentsia, teachers and lecturers both, about to play a game without crying. Well, almost.

'

Part of the crowd, locals included Ogre Dirty Dog. And there's Gabe, all the way from Pittsburgh with his old man.

Messing around before The Game Which Shall Not Be Mentioned. The young men, Matt and Nat and Tristan came from Kansas and Kent and Brooklyn.

Setting up Friday night with a rousing game of Tikal before launching Ravenna 1512 in 15mm. At least Tikal was fun. USMC veteran Carmen makes the scene!

Tactics, football, or food? You be the judge.

A pairing I selfishly requested, my three brothers, Paul F and I, do Monte Casino, Bolt Action style. A 4-3 German victory, it was very reminiscent of out childhood except there were no fistfights afterward and hardly any of us cried.

I  haven't seen us all this engaged since there was only one piece of asiago left on vacation.

Larry Fine. He wasn't there but I always felt he was the funniest Stooge; don't you think?
